PVDC is one of the world's high barrier materials (PVDC, EVOH, and PA), with superior properties such as oxygen resistance, moisture resistance, and mold resistance. PVDC has excellent barrier properties against gases, water vapor, oil, and odors, and is widely used in packaging fields such as food, medicine, cosmetics, and other fields with extremely high requirements.
1. Application of PVDC in drug blister packaging
PVDC blister packaging consists of covering materials and foaming materials. The covering material of blister packaging is basically aluminum foil for drug packaging. The foam forming material is a composite hard sheet made of medical polyvinyl chloride (PVC) hard sheet and coated with PVDC lotion on the surface.
2. Application of PVDC in composite film packaging
PVDC composite film is a high barrier film made by coating or co extruding BOPP, BOPA, BOPET, PE and other substrates. PVDC composite film packaging is mainly suitable for packaging particles and powders (especially traditional Chinese medicine with strong hygroscopicity). Taking some traditional Chinese medicine as an example, the strong hygroscopicity of traditional Chinese medicine granules leads to problems such as adhesion, discoloration, taste change, spoilage, and excessive bacterial content during transportation, storage, and use, which in turn affects the shelf life, stability, safety, and efficacy of the product. The solution to this problem can be to remove as much water as possible during the drug preparation stage, or to use packaging materials with high barrier properties for packaging and storage to prevent water from entering and improve the moisture-proof ability of traditional Chinese medicine formulations. Among them, PVDC composite film is a good choice.
